About the Artist

Calypso Projects is a multidisciplinary art studio creating emotional mythologies in clay and paint.

Founded by Chevi English, the project began as a ceramic practice rooted in grief healing, sensory comfort, and quiet connection to nature. The name is a chimera. Originating from her love of literature and a desire to honor the stillness that has provided her the most peace, Calypso Projects was formed. Named for both the Calypso bulbosa, a rare orchid that blooms only in still, shaded forests and the nymph Calypso, who is known most for hiding Odysseus for seven long years, this project began as an attempt to bring light into the shadows.

Over time, Calypso Projects has grown into a cosmos of its own, a constellation of paintings, ceramic relics, and poetic rituals that explore mental wellness through symbolism, emotional storytelling, and personal myth. What began as a way of navigating the darkened corners of an inner labyrinth has become a more expansive offering: a mapped sky of emotions. Each work is part of this imagined emotional sky, where stars become metaphors and every object holds meaning.

Whether you’re drawn to the grounding presence of ceramics or the dreamlike language of painting, Calypso Projects offers a quiet space to reflect, reconnect, and feel seen.
